Our Experience and Expertise
Achieving one's dreams should never be based on where you are born
Hello, my name is Nfally Nyassi, going by the name Alex in the tourism industry of The Gambia (Smiling Coast of Africa) and founder of BANJUL GUIDED TOURS. I am a local Gambian, born in Serekunda in 1996 and I am well versed with tourism within our beautiful country. After graduating from Senior Secondary School, I was employed by a ground tour operator, Category B, where I completed my practical training to become a professional local tour guide. At the same time, I went to the Travel and Tourism College of The Gambia, where I learnt my theoretical aspect of tour guiding and running a tour operation business. I also studied on other modules which included responding to Europeans and other cultures, marketing, customer relations etc. After achieving a Diploma in Travel and Tourism, I am currently reading Business Administration at Sbec College.
BANJUL GUIDED TOURS - COMPANY SUMMARY
Banjul Guided Tours is a legally registered company in the Gambia and licensed by the Gambia Tourism Board, the National Tourism Regulatory Body, to operate as a Ground Tour Operator in the Gambia (incoming tour operator).
Unique and personal guided tours
The experience gained from more than seven years in the tourism industry inspired me to set up BANJUL GUIDED TOURS, to design, conduct and offer guided tours on a unique and personal level. I have a passion to share my experiences and adventures, and to educate tourists from around the world on different aspects of life, culture, tradition, nature, history etc of The Gambia.
It will be an honour and privilege to take you around my beloved nation (Smiling Coast of Africa).
For me the most beautiful part of my job is I get to meet people from different walks of life, learn and share stories of each others experiences, as well as enjoying the best delights and sights that The Gambia has to offer.
Helping the local community
My main purpose and motivation is to promote the special qualities of our cherished country, The Gambia.
For the longer term, my goal is to provide employment to the local people and to support our community as much as we can. By providing employment, good working conditions and wages, I can give them opportunities that give them a sense of pride and acheivement, a source of hope for the future, and a sense of identity and security too. This and more is what I intend to achieve towards the development of BANJUL GUIDED TOURS for the people of my treasured nation.
We proudly help local school projects by donating through our earnings on tours and through funds given by esteemed customers. We monitor the progress of the developments as stated on such school projects, including our latest donation which will be used to paint the entire local school.
We also help our local orphanages in the little way we can, by taking customers around to see and share the experience, and to monitor how the given funds are used to enrich the children's lives.
We have recently worked on a local project with some of our customers from the Netherlands, to help a family in need, by building them a basic kitchen.
Actor Marcus Edwards, shares his experiences of his tours with me around The Gambia.
